Mission to Seafarers I had the pleasure of meeting the Reverend James Mosher, for lunch, at the Cowherds, in Southampton. Aside from a pleasant lunch, I was delighted to hand over a Cheque for £1,520, on behalf of the Southampton Shipping Golf Society, which we raised at the Silent Auction, at the AGGM and Dinner, in November. James was most humbled and wrote to me, with thanks “Hello Kevin , It was such a gift to share a meal together. Thank you so much for lunch and for the incredibly generous donation to the Mission to Seafarers. The support from SSGS really makes a world of difference, helping us take care of seafarers from all across the globe as they pass through the port.” Thanks to all who made the AGM and Dinner a fabulous affair, and contributing generously to the Mission. CURRENT NEWS Passsing of member Mike Dyer
Your President and Vice-President wish to inform all members of the sad passing of Mike Dyer on 26th June. Mike was a personal friend to both of us. Mike had been battling with liver cancer for over 15 months. He had been a member of the Society since 2019 participating in many events, enjoying our AGM & Dinners and collecting 5 trophies over this period. Mike was well respected in his profession as a lawyer, specialising in Mergers and Acquisitions. He was a Director of Portsmouth Football Club during the period the fans had the ownership (Pompey Supporters Trust). Mike was their lawyer during the sale to the Eisner Family in 2017. He was so respected by the new owners they retained his services for other Club matters and is a Honorary President of the Club. Funeral details will follow. The Society will be represented by both The President and Vice-President.
